Mummuye culture is known for its famous wooden figures, called iagalagana. The characteristic of this art consists on the creation of positive and negative spaces with a pattern of holes between the body and the arms. Although mumuye ethnic group show a big respect about their ancestors, these figures don’t represent them but incarnate the guardian spirits. These instruments are used by seers and healers whose professions include the diagnosis and the recovery of the disease and other kind of misfortunes.
